My Leap Year: Small Steps 40-43

[My Leap Year is a 12-month life project (begun 11/01/07) at the end of which I intend to be writing full-time. 365 small steps = 1 giant leap.]

First off, I support the writers’ strike. Due especially to where I believe it’s all heading (here, here and here). But on a practical level it means my wife is out of work, so we will be returning to LA from NYC until the whole thing is resolved. Combine this mini-move and the requisite packing and preparations with my last week of work here, our normal bi-coastal holiday travels and a death in the family yesterday and I’ve done barely any writing since Monday, and probably won’t again until next Tuesday.

But small seasons like this within the timeframe of a personal goal are normal. Life still has to be lived while pursuing something like full-time writing. And it’s that living that gives us material to write about in the first place. No one writes in a vaccuum.

  1. So true. But having already witnessed what you are capable of, it is clear that you will succeed.
Now and throughout the year…Keep the faith.

  2. Thank you, Scott. To rif on last post’s comments, I intend to both shoot for Mars and make it there!
