My Leap Year: Small Steps 126-127

[My Leap Year is a 12-month life project (begun 11/01/07) at the end of which I intend to be writing full-time. 365 small steps = 1 giant leap.]

I realized today that with My Leap Year being an actual leap year that my tag above is wrong…I’ll actually have 366 days. I wonder if the one day will make a difference.

Another pitch went out today. That makes four this week.

After three solid days of applying the 100% factor, I’ve discovered a side effect: at the end of the day I am devastatingly tired. Just totally worn out. It makes me wonder just how far below 100% I’ve been applying myself to things up until now. I imagine (or perhaps it’s hope) that this will be like when I did a short Navy Seal preparation fitness regime. It started at 5:30 AM every morning and lasted a couple hours. The first week and a half I was exhausted ALL THE TIME. But then my body started adjusting to the new level of activity and it became part of my routine.

My new pick of the week went up yesterday. Go see why you should be reading Casanova.

  1. Hi, Caleb:

I understand what you mean by being exhausted at the end of the day with the 100 percent factor. I’m trying the same thing, pitching one creator-owned project, developing a proposal asked for specifically by another publisher and trying to get another assignment from a publisher whom I’ve worked with in the past. It’s hard to keep everything organized. I’ve even resorted to collapsing in front of American Idol — which in less-tired times I avoid like the plague — at the end of the work day.

Anyway, I really enjoy your blog.

  2. I’m afraid American Idol still rests firmly in the plague category for me, but if I keep this up, you never know. Glad you like the blog, and congratulations on Gearz – Darren’s a great guy.

  3. Thanks, Caleb.

Yeah, I was fortunate to find Darren. He gave me a chance to write for him, and I really appreciate it.
